Estela Carrera-Infante is a native of Mexico, born in San Luis Potosi and raised in Poza Rica Ver. till the age of nine, Estela came to the United States at an early age, she was the oldest of the 6 children that migrated to the US with their mother, Julia Carrera Infante.
With over 30 years of experience working with all communities, specifically Migrant and Latinos. She has been employed in the past as a consultant to Migrant Education in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and ESCORT in New York. She was a parent educator, trainer for MESD(Migrant Education in Oregon and for Willamette ESD in Anacortes for most of her career in Parent and Family Engagement.
She is certified as a Parent Facilitator in many parenting programs including Strengthening Families Program (SFP) in the state of Washington, working specifically in Skagit and Snohomish Counties. SFP is an evidence-based family skills training program managed by several agencies in both counties
Estela has vast experience as a parent educator. She was recognized for her contributions to parent education when she was selected by a team at the University of Washington lead by Dr. Marilyn Cohen, representing the Washington State Department of Health and Washington Department of Social and Health Services to serve as the lead in a film series for parents entitled Platica de Autoestima: Un Asuntode Toda la Familia. This six part TV series based on the work of Jean Illsley Clarke, noted parent educator and author, was not only broadcast on PBS stations acrossWashington State but it was also distributed all across the US and to select outlets outside the U.S. Following the development of the TV series. Estela assumed the lead role ina composing a leader’s guide as well as a series of photo novelas to supplement the original TV series. She continues to remain actively involved in parent education, offering her services to parent education programs throughout the U.S. She is an active participant as a presenter at the National Migrant Education Conferences.
Now as the Project Director for Strong Families/Thriving Communities (Familias Fuertes/Comunidades ProsperasLLC Estela’s dream of publishing this program in Spanish has become a reality.

Plática de Autoestima: Un Asunto de Toda la Familia, a parenting program in Spanish, based on author Jean Illsley Clarke's book, Self-Esteem A Family Affair, supports Latino families through this difficult and rewarding job. This program created at the University of Washington, helped her dream come true. Now Estela will work to expand our programs to meet the changing and challenging needs of families in our community.
